3 Youth Housing Mentors

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of First Nations young people? Golalbi-gan Pty Ltd is currently seeking three committed and culturally responsive Youth Housing Mentors to join our Youth Housing With a Purpose Program, the first locally owned and operated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residential care service in Townsville.
About the Role:As a Youth Housing Mentor, you will provide safe, supportive, and culturally appropriate care within our residential home setting. You’ll support young people to develop independent living skills, strengthen cultural connections, and navigate pathways to healing and empowerment. This role requires flexibility, compassion, cultural awareness, and the ability to build positive and trusting relationships.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide day-to-day care and supervision in line with individual case plansSupport cultural connection and identity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youthAssist young people in developing life skills (e.g. cooking, budgeting, hygiene)Create a stable, nurturing, and trauma-informed living environmentWork collaboratively with case managers, support services, and cultural mentorsMaintain accurate documentation, incident reports, and shift records
About You:Experience working with vulnerable or at-risk young people (preferred)Understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based approachesCultural capability and awareness, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communitiesStrong communication and problem-solving skillsFlexibility to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, sleepovers, and public holidaysCurrent Blue Card (Working with Children Check)National Police Check (or willing to obtain)Driver’s licence (mandatory)

2 Cultural Mentors
Full-Time Cultural Mentors (2 positions)Location: Townsville, QLDOrganisation: Golalbi-gan Pty LtdProgram: Cultural Mentor ProgramEmployment Type: Full-Time (38 hours per week)
Are you passionate about supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to connect to culture, community, and country?
Golalbi-gan is seeking reliable and committed Cultural Mentor's to join our Cultural Mentor Program. This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) and plays a vital role in supporting young people involved in statutory systems to strengthen their cultural identity, relationships, and sense of belonging.
About the Role:As a Cultural Mentor, you will work closely with young people, their families, and community to provide one-on-one cultural mentoring, group-based activities, and connection to Elders and cultural knowledge holders. You’ll walk alongside young people, helping them to rebuild cultural identity and confidence through safe, tailored and strengths-based support.
Key Responsibilities:Deliver culturally safe mentoring to young people involved with Youth Justice or Child SafetyBuild trusted relationships and walk alongside young people on their journeyFacilitate cultural activities, group yarning sessions, and connection to CountrySupport referrals, case planning, and progress reporting with program partnersWork collaboratively with community services and stakeholdersComplete required documentation, case notes and timesheets in a timely and professional mannerMaintain full-time hours (38 hours per week), with flexibility to meet program needs
